Frequently Asked Questions about Personal Injury Claims
What should I do after a car accident?
Directly after a car accident, if you are able, call 911. Tell the dispatcher where you are and if you or anyone else is injured. Get immediate medical attention if needed. Once police arrive, fill out a report with as much detail as you can recall. Never admit fault.
Should I talk to insurance companies?
You can let your insurance company know that an accident has occurred, but it is best to talk to an attorney before accepting any offers. Insurance adjusters protect the interests of the company, and you may not be offered the full value of your claim or coverage.
Do I have a personal injury claim?
In order to have an actionable personal injury claim, you must be able to prove three things:
- That another party caused the accident
- That the accident caused you harm
- That the harm you suffered resulted in real losses (medical care, lost wages, etc.)
How much is my case worth?
Every legal case is different. The value of your case will depend on factors including your injuries, lost income, pain and suffering, property loss, and other factors. It is important to work with an attorney to establish the value, or damages, associated with your case. These may include both economic and non-economic losses.
How much does a lawsuit cost?
All lawsuits have different total costs. There may be general court or filing fees that apply to every case, but as lawsuits move through the legal system the total cost changes. At El Aliado, we do not charge you for any of these costs unless we obtain a verdict or settlement on your behalf.
